Meister International supplies porcelain standoff insulators from 2.5kv up to 15kv/110kv BIL. Porcelain standoff insulators are important components in various electrical applications and are used to isolate power sources from making contact with conductive surfaces. Typically, porcelain insulators are used to support copper and/or aluminum bus bar in switchboards, motor control centers and panel boards.
The design and testing of these porcelain standoff insulators complies with the mechanical and electrical requirements of industry standards.
The porcelain standoff insulators provided by Meister International offer consistent reliability and performance and are typically maintenance-free. These porcelain standoff insulators have a durable outer gray glaze coating that repels dust and dirt, preventing it from adhering to the porcelain standoff insulator and interfering with its overall performance.
Our porcelain standoff insulators are designed with brass inserts on each end of the porcelain standoff insulator with a center mounting hole in each insert. The brass inserts are held in place with Portland cement so that the inserts remain in place during high mechanical stresses as well as in high-temperature environments.
Meister International offers stocking agreements for these porcelain insulators to guarantee continuous product supply. This helps to avoid outages and downtime and keeps your production line moving. These stocking agreements enable us to maintain the appropriate quantity of porcelain standoff insulators so we can fill customer orders quickly. REQUEST A QUOTE FOR OUR LV & HV PIN TYPE INSULATORS
The low voltage (LV) and high voltage (HV) pin type insulators distributed by Meister are designed and manufactured with both economy and the installer in mind. The pin type insulators Meister supplies can be installed quickly and conveniently. The insulator’s exterior is coated in a high-quality glaze, making sure to shed water and keep dirt and other pollutants from adhering. This allows for a requirement of little-to-no maintenance. Any metal used in the manufacture of the post will not corrode or deteriorate.
Pin type insulators are composed into a shape that allows the wire and its physical support to be separated, while securing the conductor to itself. This can be accomplished by tying the conductor and indicator together, by creating an inductor with grooves to ensure it doesn’t slip, or, if heavy enough, gravity can hold the conductor in place.
Once you have decided which pin type insulator will work best to accommodate your needs, please click our “request a quote” link, and fill in the information required. REQUEST A QUOTE FOR OUR SPOOL & GUY STRAIN INSULATORS
The Guy Strain Insulators distributed by Meister International are manufactured from wet process porcelain. This gives the guy strain insulators a smooth glaze allowing them to shed water, requiring little-to-no maintenance. The guy strains are there to stabilize and reinforce structures such as telephone poles, to keep them from pulling toward other poles. Guy strain insulators are compatible with preformed style guy grips. They are designed, manufactured and tested to meet requirements of current American National Standards Institute (ANSI) guidelines.
Both the spool insulators, as well as the guy strain insulators supplied by Meister International are manufactured from wet process porcelain. This process allows the spool insulators and the guy strain insulators to shed water and keep dirt away, thus requiring little-to-no maintenance. They are shaped like spinning spools, which allow them to hold wires in place, and keep them from slipping off. These spool insulators are designed, manufactured and tested to the spool insulator requirements of current ANSI guidelines.
Maintenance of spool insulators and guy strain insulators is typically not required, as the glaze coating on the exterior of the insulator keeps dirt and pollutants from adhering to the insulator.
Below are images of both the guy strain insulators, as well as spool insulators, and drawings are available for download, to the left, in order to provide you with more in-depth information.

REQUEST A QUOTE FOR OUR STATION POST INSULATORS
OUR PORCELAIN STATION POST INSULATORS ARE IN STOCK AND AVAILABLE FOR IMMEDIATE SHIPMENT.
Meister International has been supplying the industry with porcelain station post insulators since 2003. Standard strength, high-strength, and extra high-strength station post insulators are available from stock or have a very short leadtime. Porcelain station post insulators are preferred by Utilities around the world as they maintenance-free and offer superior electrical and mechanical characteristics. Porcelain Station Post insulators are the ideal choice for high voltage switches and substation bus support applications.
Meister International maintains an extensive stock of industry-standard porcelain station post insulators that are typically available for next-day shipping. This helps customers avoid long lead times.
Strength Ratings:
Standard strength porcelain station post insulators are typically used in all standard high-voltage switch and bus applications. They meet or exceed all ANSI standards in both electrical and mechanical characteristics for their voltage class.
High strength porcelain station post insulators are used when an extra amount of mechanical strength is required for heavy-duty bus and switch projects. High-strength porcelain station post insulators have the same electrical ratings as the standard strength porcelain station post insulators. In applications where there are severe short circuits, high-strength porcelain station post insulators are often used. They meet or exceed all ANSI standards in both electrical and mechanical characteristics for their voltage class.
Extra-High strength porcelain station post insulators are used for projects that involve extremely heavy mechanical loads. They meet or exceed all ANSI standards in both electrical and mechanical characteristics for their voltage class.
Porcelain station post insulators are typically installed in the vertical position, but they can also be used horizontally. When installed horizontally, the working load strength of the station post insulators must be de-rated for 50% of the net weight of the unit. In other words, if you have a station post rated at 2,500 lbs. cantilever, the maximum recommended working load is 1,000 lbs.
For over 80 years, porcelain station post insulators have been the preferred insulator by designers, manufacturers, and packagers of power substations and switchyards for utility and industrial environments. Our porcelain station post insulators’ superior operating characteristics provide the strength and long life needed for reliable substation operation. Porcelain station post insulators from Meister International provide efficient and trouble-free service for operating voltages from 7.5kv to 1100kv.
Maintenance of porcelain station post insulators is really not required because the glaze coating on the exterior of the insulator keeps dirt and pollutants from adhering to the insulator. The metal fittings on the ends of our porcelain station post insulators are hot-dipped galvanized steel that will not deteriorate.
The design of our porcelain station post insulators takes into account both the mechanical and electrical requirements of IEEE, IEC, NEMA and ANSI Standards. Testing is also performed in accordance with the applicable industry standards.
Purchase station post insulators from Meister International with confidence. You’ll be assured a quality product, quick shipping and quantity discounts.

Manufacturers, packagers, and distributors of switchgear, power transformers, generators and bus-duct consistently choose porcelain insulators over epoxy and silicone designs due to their durability. If you have ever experienced downtime due to a field failure of an ‘epoxy insulator’, the outrageously high cost of downtime could have been avoided by using porcelain insulators. Utility engineers and consultants continue to specify porcelain insulators for their key switchyard projects because of their superior reliability.
The design of the porcelain insulators distributed by Meister International comply with the mechanical and electrical requirements of IEEE, IEC, NEMA and ANSI Standards. Testing is also performed in accordance with the applicable industry standards. Custom porcelain insulators can also designed and manufactured for customer specific applications and requirements.
Maintenance of porcelain insulators is really not required as the glaze coating on the exterior of the insulator keeps dirt and pollutants from adhering to the porcelain insulator. The metal fittings used in the manufacture of the porcelain insulators distributed by Meister International are made from metals that will not deteriorate and are ideal for supporting copper and aluminum busbars.
While the manufacturing of porcelain insulators does take time, Meister International helps customers avoid long lead times by stocking industry standard porcelain insulators. Stocking agreements are offered so that your production process can run without interruption. We put our customers first and always work to exceed our customers’ expectations.
